I really have to learn good food photography, I read a lot about it, but I still can’t seem to put it all together.
Super simple lighting: Vivitar bounced in a white umbrella, 45oC of the camera, right. 1/4th power, ebay trigger.
The gold thing in the back is a reflector that wasn’t really useful, it just created this little gold reflection on the back of the plate.

Nope – if you’ve seen any of my recent photos (this one comes to mind: 365project.org/jo_jo_ba/365/2010-04-16) you’ll know I had about 40 lbs of apples to contend with over the last week (not kidding, I weighed them!). Apple butter was made, and then simply by modifying a super-simple pumpkin pie recipe of mine I knocked out these apple butter pies lickety-split!

LikeDislikeI think it lacks some backlighting, from what I’ve seen, lots of light works well with food.

Alex, I should have done a setup like that I suppose. Andrew made great shots with this simple setup.
The problem is that the cream is already over exposed like that, so more light would perhaps be problematic.
I’ll have to cook another one to try again
