I’m not the best baker in the world but I can pull this recipe off and it comes out delicious. I rarely have leftovers when I serve it.

Q&A: Best and Simple Apple Crisp Recipe?
We got a 5lbs bag of apples in our food box I want to make apple crisp for christmas hubby said he doesnt want pie. There are so many recipes out there I am looking for one to serve about 12 or use 10 or so apples the more apples the better but I dont want the stuff coming out my ears just enough for our christmas eve dinner with the step kids and hubby and I’s last “quite” christmas dinner before our 7 month old is 19 months next year. My mom is searching for her’s but says anymore she just wings it. I need something simple because I have a small kitchen and I am the only one preparing the small meal so simple is better. Thanks a ton
Thats actually the one my mom just sent me she said she just sprinkles cinn on the apples before she puts the topping on since us kids are such big cinn fans!

Frico con le Mele
Montasio cheese sandwiching a wam layer of sauteed apples.
Notes: This recipe is straight from Lidia Bastianich’s new cookbook, Lidia’s Italy.
There’s no Montasio cheese to be found here in my hometown, so I picked up some in New York. Although I tried to keep this dinner mostly Chinese, I had to use up the cheese. There were no complaints from the crowd. They loved every bite of it.
I’ve had this dish at Lidia’s restaurant here in Kansas City, and it’s always a hit. At the restaurant, they rotate the fillings. I’ll have to try some others next time I get my hands on some Montasio. I asked Lidia if any other cheese could be substituted, she said that Montasio is unique because it strikes the perfect balance between sturdiness and creaminess that helps it melt and crisp along with the filling.
Frico is basically a huge double-cheese quesadilla – two layers of crisped Montasio cheese sandwiching a mix of (traditionally) potatoes and onions. For this recipe, Lidia uses slices of apple sauteed in olive oil as a filling. The Montasio cheese is quite salty, so the tart-sweetness of the caramlised apples offers a delicious counter-balance in flavor.
